Fleming Park Leisure Centre

The new Leisure Facility provides a new eight-lane, 25-metre swimming pool, a gym, ballet studio, squash courts and a soft play area. The centre is the flagship for the Eastleigh Borough Council’s “Health Works” programme aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle across the borough.

The control of the pool areas presented a number of challenges to our software designers and commissioning engineers. The temperature of the pool water and the temperature of the fresh air make up had to be closely monitored and controlled within tight parameters at all times in order to guard against condensation on the Walls and floors of the pool areas. Interfacing to the Pool Air handling Unit via a BACnet over IP protocol had to be tightly regulated and suitable alarm routing carried out to ensure the environmental conditions were maintained at optimum and safe levels at all times.

Furthermore, a Bespoke piece of software was written to calculate Heating & cooling ‘degree days’ that were then displayed at the BMS Front End. These were based on a comparison of outside air temperature and a user defined base temperature setpoints. This allowed the occupier access to information showing the general trend in heating & cooling requirements over the heating & cooling seasons and therefore allows the occupier to better understand their energy usage.
